No, carry a torque wrench, not a impact. Impact is for removing, emergency. Torque wrench is for install. Never have I had one loosen up a bit.

1/2 gun lightly to pull together.

425lbs on a 3/4 torque wrench in recommend pattern.

450lbs in a circle and snap them twice.

You will never have loose wheels. Plus you can remove them with a healthy 1/2 gun or by hand with a good breaker bar in a pinch.

Yes its slow, no I don't worry about my lug nuts ever. I even own a 1" gun. Sometimes the slow way, is the fast way.

But good eye and glad you caught it right away. Most guys wouldn't. So no big harm.

This I understand all to much.

Thats why I said if I did what some of you guys do. I normally not that far from the garage I can't pull some McGiver stuff to get there.

But I was a full time mechanic before trucking. I have spare tools all over. Just ask my wife how many she finds.

I carry enough tools to get me by one the road (I hope).

I do have a big investment in 10mm sockets and wrenches. I even told the safety dept the best tool I have is a metric crescent wrench. Three months later and they still won’t talk to me.

Definitely a good catch! I'll also take it as a sign that I better redoublecheck the axle I had apart for my brake job yesterday.

Like me, I see you suffer from CRS too. Walk 20 yards to the shop to get something, get in there and can't remember what it was I came for. Yeah, sucks gettin old...
