Made the Pilot in Elm Creek, NE with 13 minutes to spare. Drove through a monster thunderstorm complete with a tornado warning to get here.
Got loaded, and two rows away from being done, the loader asks me which "marker light" I was talking about when he asked where centre was.
I point at the marker light at centre. He points at the turn signal on the underside of the trailer deck.
*facepalm*
It's too late to change it, my gauges were too close to know for sure. I strapped and rolled. Going to find out tomorrow if I'm overweight on the drives. The loaded weight should be around 84,000-85,000 gross, being that we're permitted to 85,500 in KS.
If I'm over, I've got about 600 lbs of chain I can load to the back of the trailer, and won't be crossing many scales on the way north (US-183 to US-83 to ND-3), so if I have to, I'll play the @wore out and @stwik game on the country back roads.
I'm only about 1 foot ahead of centre, and I've got a feather weight truck. I always have room on the steers and put the fifth wheel all the way forward.
Shouldn't be hassled if I'm under gross and barely over on the drives.Oxbow, wore out, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 9 others Thank this. -
