I like ya FJ, so don't take this wrong... I mean nothing personal. If you think you should be a trainer, try this instead; just show the potential trainee how to access The Truckersreport and let us handle it. You know, like we've done for some other young man...

I have just shy of 6 years experience and still feel like i wouldn't be able to train someone 100%. Could i do it, sure but not at the capacity to where I'd feel I'm giving the trainee everything they should be taught.

I hope you are kidding? It was just 2 weeks ago you couldn’t figure out a chain binder? Now your thinking of becoming a trainer?
I’ve done a lot of poopy work in my life. Some paid good others kept food on the table.
Cant imagine any situation where I’d want another person living in the cab of a truck with me other than giving them a ride because they broke down? Even my wife who I love dearly.Nostalgic, farmerjohn64, Eldiablo and 12 others Thank this. -
Not for flatbed work....there is so much more to experience than just time. Think back the last month for example....how much knowledge did you gain from the folks here on this thread alone? Were you unsure about any aspect of your job so far? We know the answer already.
Door slammers can actually get away with putting a rookie with another not so rookie. In 6 months, the new trainer has experienced probably 80-90% of everything they will see (freight wise), and load securement isn't as critical with dry van as it is with bed work. The trainer needs to know and understand the companies procedures and requirements and pass these on, be able to undo bad habits and teach good habits, time management, and basically get the newbie started in a safe and semi-comfortable beginning. Personal hygiene is also something that seems to be needed to be taught these days.
So much of this industry is learn as you go, especially with dry van. Refer more info required, and flat bed....far too many different load types, configurations, securement, tarp or not,....at least 3 maybe 5 years experience for bedding IMO.farmerjohn64, jamespmack, clausland and 9 others Thank this.
