The first few posts I read of his, I thought maybe he had a dry sense of humor and was being sarcastically obnoxious. I really do try to give people the benefit of doubt lol.PoleCrusher, cke, Eldiablo and 8 others Thank this.

We are pretty much the same age within a couple months if my shot memory is right.
I started with a chauffeurs license also.
My grandpa died when I was three months old.
Always laughed when the environmentalist would start in on the lagoons south of us....my grandpa dug those holes to build hwy 34 with a northwestern dragline.... that was his day job then he ran the hydro plant in the river at night.
That's what you did to provide for your family.
You have the same work ethic.... don't really matter what anyone else thinks!!!!PoleCrusher, cke, Eldiablo and 11 others Thank this. -
I understand my Freind...
Far right looking away from the camera.... that’s my uncle Lester that raised me, no matter how hot it was, he had a long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
He was tough as nails. Born in 1918 and only had a 4th grade education. Could barely write, aunt Winnie wrote out all the bills to customers that he drilled for. I learnt a lot from him, wish I could go back and ask questions.....PoleCrusher, cke, Eldiablo and 14 others Thank this. -

My other grandpa grew up in the depression....burned corn cobs for heat...I think about that every time I fill these lp tanks. That's about the same amount of money they lived on for a year.
He had his own dozer before I came along. My mom was the last of the girls so she had to do all the chores plus her activities.
My dad went to mechanic school in Kansas City cause the military wouldn't take him...he tried. 6' 8" was to tall.
My earliest memory of my grandpa was digging the basement for my parents house. The backhoe had broke down so dad asked grandpa to do it. I was scared to death running straight down one side and scared we was gonna flip coming out the other end.
Still ain't sure why I agreed to ride with him but it's a memory I'll cherish for the rest of my life.PoleCrusher, cke, Eldiablo and 10 others Thank this. -
Well I'm already 1/3 of the way through the next book.

I remember my dad studying for the CDL when it came to be in the early 90s and thinking how dumb it was that he had to take a test to do the same job that he had been doing for almost 20 years. All them guys should have been grandfathered to the CDL.
Oh the irony. Instead of actually learning the job from one with years of experience (preCDL), lets learn to pass a test (postCDL) and then train with dumb and dumber.PoleCrusher, cke, Eldiablo and 9 others Thank this. -
