I have a spare set of 8.1L rockers and balls on a coat hanger in my parts cabinet. Mine I worked at had 400 8.1L. Camshaft and lifters failed about as often as 6.0L.
Main difference between 454 and 8.1 was an extra bolt per cylinder on the head gasket, all the threads were metric, and it had a different firing order.
They all used oil. Gms cure was a 10qt oil pan.
We have 2 buses with 8.8L big blocks. First thing I did before buying was peek into the valve cover thru the oil cap. Full roller valve train.
They use zero oil between 200 hour service intervals. Pistons rods and cranks are all forged.
The engine and trans combo will be retired into a pickup when the time comes.
Next year depending on the coronavirus crapola I'm supposed to go on a factory tour of PSI 8.8L factory and the international bus factory.

I like my 3.91 with 22.5LP. 1600 at 65 is the sweet spot. My uncle's 12.7 liked the same 1500-1750
