1957, first year for the 283. I had 57 1 ton years ago with a 261, pretty good torque, which most 6 bangers were good with torque. The Ford 300 was a dandy.

The 55 I have in the shop has the big wrap around rear window like that, took place of the 5 window......

 

What can I say.......I take things to the limit !

 

Even my wife can spot a 5 window. Lol the training is kicking in.

Never been a Ford guy. But ill never knock that 300 inline.

Dont get me wrong...I love big power but pig power comes with pig responsibility. Lol. Can you dial it back if you want to? The pig I mean! I pull 130000 regularly. Not oversize but heavy with 500 deleted Cummins. No mods just stock deleted. Seems like it's enough most days.
