Stupid question, but did you test the batteries? Maybe one has a shorted cell, even if they're newer!?

It may not leak fuel where it is sucking air. It could be the pickup tube in the tank sucking air above the fuel line or the davco itself.

Better yet run a line right out of a bucket of fuel to the engine. That will tell you if your sucking air behind the fuel pump or in the engine. It should run without the lift pump (mine dose)

Sucking air into the system won't have anything to do with the return lines.

I had 2 new batteries and the other 2 tested with the first alternator.

I'm thinking it's an alignment issue, the thing started squealing and is hot to the touch...maybe bearings getting hot.

My cousin the CAT mechanic came up today and we pumped all the air from the system and let it run (I stopped it early last night after replacing all that stuff because the alternator was squealing) he sprayed some pb blaster on it and we ran it awhile until it stopped putting bubbles into the tanks.

Seemed to idle smoother than it has in awhile, he thinks I just didn't get all the air out of it last night and that I'm good to go.

We'll see come tomorrow how it starts after it sits overnight.

When you put the check valve in the filter base did you buy a new Orrington for it? Why CAT doesn't put one on is beyond me but it's common to find it gone and that be the prime issue after replacing it.

Yes I did, I was surprised it was a separate part as well.

@SAR yeah, my manifold is junk, so I'm trying to get that fixed, but everything else keeps breaking in the meantime.
