Memphis is nasty. Like Gary IN nasty. I'd pay 2x the petro rate to be in a sorta safe/less skeezy area. But the petro is ok. And instacart delivery goes there.
I hate Memphis.
Also. The pilot across the river is a dumpster fire. Avoid....

 

A dead man lift......

 

Wish I'd snapped a picture, but I was too awestruck by the stupidity unfolding in front of me that I didn't think to grab my phone out of the center console.

The HVAC supplier next door has two docks. Both are fairly simple to back into, in fact yesterday I watched a guy in a really pretty green Petercar one shot blindside into the one next to our warehouse. Anyway, their other dock is down by their main building and has all the room a driver needs to get into it. I see dry vans back into it all the time with nary an issue.

Leaving work I see a red Cascadia with a not-so-long shipping container attached to it. He's having some difficulty getting lined up with the dock. Across from said dock is a concrete curb, and on the other side of that curb is the right of way that an irrigation canal runs through. This time of year the right of way is pretty soft and muddy.

Rocket Genius Container Guy pulls forward, hops the curb with all three tractor axles and drives into the mud in an attempt to get himself more aligned with the dock that was tormenting him. He slams it in reverse, spins his tires, jumps the curb again ripping his mud flaps off in the process. He also bounced the front bumper of this fairly new Cascadia off of the curb. Dude gets out, power walks like he's got a purpose to open up the container doors, goes back to his truck, and backs into the dock with a KABANG.

Fantastic.

Atleast gary has a ton of truckstops to park at, any time of night. Memphis aint got ####

 

Only if u dont want a hood on ur truck. Ive been there twice. Both times have witnessed complete carnage . Will never go there again.

Couple minutes sooner would be great. This is still just fine.

 

Spent more time sitting today than driving. 10 hrs waiting to get unloaded and 340 mi for the day. Got 7 hours of detention @75hr so I needed the sleep anyways haha

 

You didn't find the guy selling high speed chicken feed. You'd be there go to guy for west coast turn arounds
