Had a noise ( pecking ) start up Thursday. Gut just kept telling me it was the compressor. When I took the front valve cover off it sounded like a real loose push tube in there.

My gut seems to have been on the right track, rear connecting rod had 0.030 play up & down.

So far no noise ( pecking )!! Was able to find a Bendix this time too.....

I went through three comps. Before I got a good one. And they all were bendix. I dont know if they are out sorcing them or what. But it was a crap shoot till I got a good one.

Good post and great you found it in time. You are very particular.
I have been going through a box of old family stuff. Found a picture of one of my first tractors. It was a JD G in pieces. No finished pictures. Another of a one horse power cane press. More like a mule but not many know what one mule power is. I will post some pics if you would care to see them.

Not sure, going to need 10 to 12 of those for testing purposes. Also may need some other cuts to do a proper full quality comparison.

Absolutely!! Love seeing things like that!

I have my family sorghum press with the wooden beam in my shop, the evaporator pan needs replaced, but I hope in the next couple years to have it going.

I thoroughly enjoy things from the past. This is my press on the steel wheeled wagon it was on last time it was used....., 1973-74.

That wooden valve was used to control the juice coming into the pan.....
