I had to pay my own insurance. I would have paid for my car myself but my parents paid a little bit of it. They said I owned the car but they owned the keys :biggrin_2559:

Had mine titled in my name. Mom and Dad still controlled the keys. I tried that argument once.

    See my comment of Dictatorship.

Hopefully my Lady routes me down 75 when I head home. I'd like to pull up & have a peek. Sometimes I have to go i95 depending what I got on, then cut across the state to get home..

Not everything you learn in school has real world value, you seem pretty smart to me haha I barely know anything about trucks! You were lucky/blessed to have someone to teach you.

Same here. All in my name but they had the "right" to take the keys if I misbehaved. Never had that happen fortunately.

Well thank god I can say you won’t be catching up with me because they’ve got another truck for me at the Cali terminal and they should get me a rental car tomorrow, unless they think I’m payin for it :D
“We take cash, credit, gold, silver and blood diamonds; how will you be paying today, good sir?”
“Jesus Christ are you an African Warlord or something? Look, pal, all I’ve got is a nickel and some pocket lint”

I grew up poor. I wanted something I had to get it. I discovered divorced moms by 10 years old. Had a dozen properties to take care of. My 1st car was all mine, I lived on my own since I was 16 and 1 month old.
My kids certainly have not had any of that stress. But the both know what work is, and when and how to get to it. As others have professed, it's easily entirely possible to raise good kids with effort.
Most of the special ed kids I haul, its learned behavior from home.

Allowance? What is thing you speak of?
The house we lived in was on the outskirts of the outskirts. Farms and orchards and other agricultural uses all around us. As the oldest male child, the “yard” was my responsibility, so was all the equipment that went with it. Not a lot of powered stuff either. If it stopped working, I’d better figure out how to fix it.
That yard produced a lot of fruit and vegetables every year. Fed 4 families.
