Gonna be nice when I can move out of the 'burbs and get myself some land to have a shop put on. Five year plan. Would have had the answers I wanted a hell of lot faster.

Communication with the dealer my truck has been at has been... interesting to say the least. The "you've got a bearing issue" turned out to be a false flag. They made it sound like they'd actually determined that to be the issue when they talked to me about it even though I asked some direct questions.

"Oh, we haven't dropped the pan yet like you asked"

"Why did you tell me I had a bearing issue then, I told you to drop the pan..."

"We said that based on the metal we found in your oil and filter. But, after thinking about it Paccars are known for eating camshafts, but typically a problem on the newer ones but not so much on the older one like you have"

"Ok, when are you going to get the pan dropped...."

A week of phone calls and "haven't done it yet"..

Finally got a call this morning.

"Bearings and camshaft/lifters look perfect. Tech thinks it's probably your air compressor...."

House I grew up in was built sometime around 1900 so heating/cooling were done in more... traditional fashions.

Power outages were the same, typically in the winter time during storms. We had a wood burning stove in the dining room that heated the house and could be used for cooking because it was... a stove. We lost water when the power was off due to being on a well, but we had a large storage tank we could go out and fill buckets with to do things like wash dishes/flush toilets. Did crazy old fashioned things like use candles to light the house at night...
