The best truck Freightliner ever made. If you find one in decent shape with a 500 detroit and a straight 10, that's a truck you can make money with.jamespmack, Deere hunter, Swine hauler and 5 others Thank this.

A 10 speed is the only manual I know how to drive without thinking, might grind a gear or two since it’s been awhile; they look like nice trucks. Any truck that I get im gonna save up to buy it outrightPoleCrusher, jamespmack, singlescrewshaker and 2 others Thank this.

@farmerjohn64, at 22 I don't know if you could get insurance on your own. Sentry wouldn't take my son until he turned 24 & he had a good driving record.
PoleCrusher, jamespmack, cke and 3 others Thank this. -
I tell you on auto shifts, the 10 speeds suck. Give me a 12 speed please. I'll be in a newer FL or KW in about two weeks. So thank goodness no more sucking 10 speed. The dang thing sucks fuel and can't climb a hill worth crap.

I might have to do pizza delivery until then because I’m definitely not hanging around here much longer, at least my buddy said the tips were good
Oh okay, “on my own”, I definitely wouldn’t want to! They’d have to pay me in blood diamonds before I’d take on double digit numbers for insuranceLast edited: Feb 27, 2021

You’re getting a new truck after how long? 3 days of being in the game?! I call major bs!
I’ve had my truck for a year almost, at least I wouldn’t trade it for a newer/better one...
PoleCrusher, jamespmack, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
You don't want one that needs alot of work. Best case is find something you can out to work immediately and then work on things you want to change or need to. Gotta put it to work to pay for it unless you just have money laying around to spend on one and not have a payment to make
I've been in one of those. Face was pressed against the front wall of the sleeper and calves on the bed. Was the most uncomfortable truck I've ever driven.
A 9200 international is what we started with. Was a good truck just dad wanted something nicer and lighter so we got the pete after a fella made an offer we couldn't refuse on the 9200. The classic on the otherhand is something I wanted since we started looking at trucks. And other than the 10 speed it's got the exact specs I was looking for.
Your 13s and 18s carry the same pattern as a regular 9. Which is basically the same as a 10 except you don't come back to the number 1 hole after going into high range. Now a performance 9 is the opposite of a regular 9. 1st is where 2nd used to be and then 5th is where 6th used to be.
13s you can split the top half only and 18s you can split top and bottom.
Road truck at 80k a 13 would be plenty. Shift it like a 9 and then once in high gear split it. Pulling a hill you can split it to drop basically a half gear to help stay in the power.
There's some oddball ones out there like a 15 or 8LL that I've never messed with.PoleCrusher, jamespmack, Swine hauler and 6 others Thank this. -
If I get an 18 speed and float it it better come with the most stereotypical trucker hat and flannel vest out there.
I sure as hell know what a splitter is ever since I was driving a 10 speed at truck driving school, tried to get going again from a complete stop and stalled out 3 times; that freakin splitter was up and in 6th gear
