Honestly I've gotten between 8.5 loaded up to 10.5 empty.

Yeah. Depends on where you're at, as Shooter pointed out. Some places out West may be a bit easier to avoid California, others not so much.

I'd of loved to buy one of the much coveted "pre emissions" trucks. Found a couple problems with it:

First, the ones I found that were within a distance I was willing to travel were priced beyond what I was willing to pay, or they were cheap crap-boxes that were beyond what I was willing to "gamble" on.

Secondly, from a business perspective I feel I live too close to California, on the I-5 corridor to pretend it doesn't exist. Didn't want to sit and look at freight I couldn't move because of an inability to go in a Southerly direction. So I made the choice to get something with the CA Seal of Approval on it..... just that alone opened up a lot more options at a price point I wasn't going to laugh hysterically at.

My wife grew up in Knoxville, and she's been wanting to move back for a looong time. We almost did it about eight years ago but I chickened out and here we are. Life choices, road not taken vs the one that was. I think we'll still wind up in the Knoxville area again at some point in the future.

When we left Virginia in '08 to head to Oregon, we of course went through Knoxville on our trip West. A part of me is still surprised she didn't say "STOP WE'RE NOT GOING ANY FURTHER, CHANGE OF PLANS". Didn't surprise me a few years later she got the itch to move...

Put "pre-emissions" in a classified and it triples the truck's value

Good part of the world to do just that.

Spent a month in Panama and the beach I went to on the regular was away from the touristy areas.

Food was fantastic, beer was good. Both were cheaper than cheap and the best part was the only people around were locals that were just quietly living their lives.
