After some shoe shopping downtown Rio I walked to a bus terminal... the streets were totally empty on a Saturday afternoon... only homeless people stay on the streets, they live and sleep on the streets... not a very safe place to stay after all business is closed... Lots of very old buildings mix with not so old ones...

I saw lots of people singing and drinking and eating at tables outside a bar in an alley... but didn't get close for pictures... only this one... the rails are for an electric train that cross downtown... never took it...

Took a bus back to Copacabana... now in the apartment... May go out again tomorrow...

Are cars allowed to use that street when there’s no train traffic?

Well, if you can get a hydraulic line made, it stands to reason it should be also be possible for an AC line.

LOL... Most "gringos" who come to Brasil love the "caipirinha"... which is a typical Brazilian alcoholic beverage... it is made with "cachaça" which is some very strong rum, crushed lime, sugar, all on the rocks... If you like heavy alcohol, I bet you would fall in love...

BTW, from Wikipedia, "Cachaça is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice. Also known as pinga, caninha, and other names, it is the most popular spirit among distilled alcoholic beverages in Brazil."
"Caipirinha is Brazil's national c ocktail, made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. The drink is prepared by mixing the fruit and the sugar together, then adding the liquor."

Hmmm... good question... I don't remember... they built that while I was in the US and I don't remember if I have seen vehicles there or not... I don't use to go there when I go downtown...
