There's a couple pubs within walking distance of home. I tend to avoid drinking if I have to drive.

Bars. I only have 2 watering holes that I frequent. Usually at least every other weekend a few of us will meet up. Both are little hole in the wall type places everyone knows everyone

    Balls of steel... :biggrin_2559:
I used to park a LOT at weight stations.... sometimes I would call them in advance to ask if they allowed parking and how full or empty it used to get at night.... I had notes on my lists of weight stations everywhere... But of course, I would make sure the truck and the weight were as compliant as possible... ;)
One time I thought everything was fine... parked at a weight station with no more time to go anywhere.. Then, reviewing the BOL, I thought my load required placards and the shipper didn't give me any...
Anyway, had to sleep on it and on the following day, called them and found out there was an exemption and I was ok.... That was quite a scare...

Talking about places to park... Once I had planned to park at a rest area on I-5 WA at night... However, when I got there, there was no rest area any more... o_O
There was nothing on the road and I had no time to go to next truck stop far away...
So... nervously watching my time quickly vanishing, I decided to park on a very wide portion of the shoulder and left a lot of distance between the truck and the road. Did my prayers and went to bed... took my 10 hr break right there... Woke up to a beautiful day... and the truck was fine. :)

Dropped a load in west Africa. Dipped into the beacon for a bath and then the chrome shop for some new spikes and check on a bumper. 20210626_154658.jpg

Northern NY & VT have a considerable amount of large dirt pull offs, particularly on the State hwys, you just gotta know & remember where they all are...
