I need expert routing advice, gentlemen...
Tooele/SLC to San Diego.
Miss Garmin wants me to ride back to I15 south all the way to Los Angeles and put up with that crapola all the way down to San Diego.
I’m gonna take a reset, knowing me, once I’m done Saturday night... there ain’t crap for parking on the 15 in between LA and San Diego so her route is as good as dog poop if I say so myself...
Haven’t taken a look at the big atlas yet but... 15 South to Barstow, hop on 247 to Yucca Valley, 62 to Whitewater, thinking I10 back to Indio/Coachella, run two-lane 86 to El Centro and then westbound on I8? Thinking the Golden Acorn casino will be where I pull the knobs. Sound good? Suggestions?
Where is everyone #5

I don't know...it's still California. That's like asking someone which pair of a stranger's dirty underwear they'd like to wear for the weekend....
-
@shogun, Nice job. Appreciate you explaining everything and taking the time to post that.

I told myself too
“###### it’s going to SLC. That means my next stop will be California.”
I saw this crap coming on Monday... every time I’m empty in SLC I get insulation to California. Every time. Without fail.
Maybe I’ll luck out and get another load from California to Georgia though?Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV, Feedman and 10 others Thank this. -
Yeah I can always find something that pays good to go home. The intermountain west is a tough area for freight. Getting back out requires babysitting the load board and being ready to jump in the truck on short notice. Never know if I'm leaving in two days or 8 days or anywhere in between. I'll usually watch the board pretty close til noon if I'm looking to get out and if nothing pops up by then I stop looking until the next day.Zeviander, OLDSKOOLERnWV, BigBob410 and 9 others Thank this.

Here I am looking at Las Vegas from a trucking point of view for the first time...
Boy does that look like a royal pain in the behind...
It all pays the same for my dumb brain! Just ride, keep the door shut, and pray Tulsa feels like giving me miles for the week. Ahhhhh, life is so simple right now. But when the market fluctuates, I don’t feel it.... I don’t get any of the bonuses nor any of the drawbacks, it’s a double edged sword being a company driver..
If I could run a route between I15 and I75 I’d be happy as a pig in doo doo. Or even the I40 and I90 corridors.... don’t mind either. We don’t have much freight out here in SLC... it’s normally Carlisle or they’ll bounce you back to Denver..
@sawmill You ever poke around the fuel haulers out this way? Seen them all over... wouldn’t mind yanking a tank and being home if the pay was there... there’s a motel over there in Evanston advertising 215/week per person. I’d have a drug dealing Mexican for a neighbor but if I could work third shift I wouldn’t even notice it

Where are you thinking about settling down?Oxbow, Tug Toy, Shock Therapy and 7 others Thank this.

I understand, I’ve said all along if I had to pick a different place to live it would be Atlanta, as much as I hate it.Oxbow, Tug Toy, Shock Therapy and 11 others Thank this.

............ alright, you’re gonna have to walk me, and I’m sure everyone else, through the reasoning of that
I can’t think of one reason why I’d want to live there.... metro or suburb. No. Thank. You.Oxbow, Tug Toy, Shock Therapy and 9 others Thank this.
