Yes... that was a long long trip... I misunderstood your previous posting. Sounds like you enjoyed your flight... comfortably sleeping...

Wish I could sleep during my flights as well....jamespmack, OLDSKOOLERnWV, singlescrewshaker and 3 others Thank this. -
Hot as balls again today. Wandered outside and cleaned my pickup's interior. Haven't cleaned it since the fall and it was only a 1 beer job. Perks of not having anyone dirtying up your truck

When I "interview" potential carriers/ employers I bring my list with over 70 questions. I like to talk with HR dept., safety dept, breakdown, dispatchers (at least one), the operations dept., visit the shop, talk to mechanics and one or two or three drivers. Cause there's a LOT involved in working and living in a company's truck. I had always been OTR, staying 3 to 4 months on the road and one week at hotel.
Didn't stop for nothing. No family, no home, no holidays, no Christmas, no Thanksgiving... The truck was my home and I was "married" to the road... But I wouldn't make such a big move just to regret a couple weeks or months later.
It is a big expense of time and money for me and for the company hiring a new driver.
In my short 11 and half year truck driving "career" I drove for 3 companies. The very first one it shouldn't really count cause I left during my first month with trainer due to conflicts with my last trainer.
But my second and third companies were pretty good. I was a very hard runner, maybe one of the hardest. Folks knew me like that.
But I wouldn't do the same again... My health paid a very high price for that and as I grow older, I must make my health a priority and make adjustments.
My former company is very small... They used to have over 30 trucks when I joined. I heard now they have 22 and more drivers are retiring.. Most are older folks, who have been driving for 35 plus years. And the company seems to be having difficulty finding new qualified drivers.
They don't advertise. They keep calling some of their former drivers (like myself) and asking when/ if they will be back.
It would be easy to go back to my former company.. But many things have changed.... and I don't like those changes. Not only in the company, the trucks, their personnel but also me.
Anyway... I have been out of the road for almost 2 yrs now and I expect changes when I go back... if I go back. Shall see.
Just rambling.... will shut up now...Last edited: Jun 27, 2021

The only thing that separates you from a FloridaMan is you look like a Cajun

Dang, I'd hop in that for $40k. The asking price for anything now is stupid high. I'm glad I bought my new trailer when I did. I can turn around and sell it for more than what I paid for it. Makes me wonder how long these things can go on for.Lostkeys, jamespmack, Eldiablo and 6 others Thank this.

I gotta admit as much as I like this 359, after 7 years the idea of a air ride cab and leg room is tempting.Lostkeys, jamespmack, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 13 others Thank this.
