It can be done safely without a caging bolt. Just requires the common sense this guy didn't have.

You probably wouldn't be there for 25 years. I don't know how it works in Canada but here there's a limit to how much the care facility can raise the rates every year. If the old person lives too long they're eventually not profitable. A new patient coming in is charged the maximum, therefore turnover and fresh patients is key to maximizing income.
I forget where I read it but the average life span of a patient in a nursing home is three years.
My people used to put the elderly or infirm that couldn't stay up with the tribe in the shade of an oak tree, give them some water, a little acorn mush and leave them there. Nature would take it's course. From what I've seen of nursing homes I don't think we've progressed very far from those days..

I think my grandfather made it about 3 years. My great great aunt was in a home for probably about 15 years.

I kind of like the sound of the way your folk did it. I'd rather my final memories be the serenity of nature than a stale old nursing home.

Yes. But what need is there to do that while on the truck?

I am so thankful that my mom and dad passed away with dignity at home.

If that's the case pull the pin connecting it to the adjuster and take off the nuts and remove the can in one piece and replace.

I'm at a complete loss on the prior conversation. I've had no fire service experience ever. I dated a fire chief for a few months..I don't really think that counts...
Maybe I was replying under a misunderstanding? I can't even place the original exchange sorry.
And yes SOMEONE has to be the first thru the door. Regardless of the setting. Fire, war, natural disaster, whatever. But that's undertaken with serious purpose, intent and hopefully training, not just random last minute 'hold my beer' stuff.
When I was envisioning John nd chainsaw and unfired ammunition...I was reflecting on the young men I know who've impulsively barged headfirst into something and got bitten in the arse for it. Young men are more likely than young women to put themselves in deadly situations and it's my hope to caution him occasionally to avoid unnecessary dying...

Changed quite a few piggybacks due to broken park spring. Quicker than replacing the whole assembly. With the road salt used around here those clevis pins don't like to come out. Plus you don't have to mess around with cutting the pushrod.

Alot of places like that. They get lured in by tax breaks and special privileges that nobody else gets. It's BS!
