I don’t believe the life insurance pays out for some of the more obvious methods

 

Someone had posted a comment saying that that would have been a terrible and painful way to do it.

Someone else pointed out that it had to look like an accident so the insurance would pay out.

 

Plus there’s a certain amount of shame attached to suicide. And the kids always wondering why Daddy did that...was it my fault? didn’t he love me? Lots of things working against that guy not only debt......wife and kids with no interest in the farm.....he feels like a failure being the generation that fails to pass it down....working alone....alcohol....

 

Leave it to us to wait out the sandstorm, only to get in line for severe thunderstorms, in the freaking desert...

 

The biggest one being the alcohol, clouds his judgment and decision making. Selfish way to deal with your problems. Can't fault him for feeling that was the only way out, thinking the life insurance will pay everything and they won't have to worry like he does. Can fault him for leaving behind the family and friends instead of selling the farm and walking away.
