Have to say that some truth is there. Took me a while to get it. Now I take of number 1, me first, because I have to also take care of the wife. Then it goes down the list from that point.

    Not at all.

Add me to the list of people who left corporate job life as a result of an idiotic environment. I got tired of doing what I know how to do, which is be a good worker only to watch other people get by because they were literally good friends with someone in a position of influence, not because they were good at their job. Such were things at my last employer.

In fact, the guy who was my direct supervisor wound up quitting about a month after I did for the exact same reasons.

Years ago, I worked thirds at a gym. I was supposed to be relieved at 0700. The first shift guy was chronically late. Say something til you’re blue in the face and nothing gets done. Fine.

Clocked out at 0700 and left. Manager calls me pissed. Why don’t you get pissed at that fat slacker who is never on time? Why are you calling me?

“But Six, you just can’t leave the desk unattended…”

Why not??? I am the only person who is punctual and I get punished for it. If you don’t want the desk to be unattended, you better have your arse there ready to go at 0700 sharp.

You guessed it, she never would say anything to a slacker. He ended up being a GM at a GNC store. The rewards for bad work ethics.

My dad raised me on the “15 minutes early is on time, on time is late.” My first job was summer maintenance on the grounds crew for a golf course. Well it’s a family ran golf course and my bosses nephew was late on Adverage two days a week. Nothing was ever said to him or anything. Just because “he’s family.”

Family or not, there’s no excuse for that.

City Council ask a week ago if I could loan a tractor and pull their float in the parade this evening. So the 1969 Oliver 1550 is hitched up and ready to ride.....

I started my first job when I was 18 yrs old... English teacher for adults who were working at corporations... and Portuguese teacher for a Japanese man working for Mitsubishi and an American man working for Citibank.... all in the city of Rio.
Used to visit them all at their places of work. After one yr my boss came and suggested me to dress more corporate like... and wear high hills and makeup... Cause I used to wear long flowery dresses and leather sandals and bangles and long hair, no make up... looked like a "hippy" although I never considered myself a "hippy"... :biggrin_25512:
So, I decided to quit that job and hit the road... Literally.... I left the university, was taking psychology... bought a couple of pliers, a roll of alpaca wire (low kind of silver), a little bag of beads and shells, seeds, etc and took a bus to another state... Started making earrings, necklaces, rings with the wire and the beads, etc and selling them on the streets, sidewalks, offering to people at places, anywhere... Travelled a lot in Brasil buying and selling art n craft.
Later had a workshop of jewelry (alpaca, silver, golden metal, semi-precious stones and sooo many other things) in my apartment in Rio.... Also got licenses to sell my "stuff" in several places in the city.
In the USA I had my own little cleaning business...
Trucking was the first job as an employee in the US... Even though I miss being self employed, I wouldn't be able to be an O/O... :biggrin_25512:
Need to find something else but until then... may continue being company driver... shall see...

    Well. Escalation of things unexpected.

Going to look at a new house tomorrow sitting on 2.5 acres out in the woods.

Potentially may find myself real busy, real quick with getting current house ready for market.
