Thats exactly what we are doing aswell and have been for some time. However, like you said, where do you draw the line? Can't afford to buy it all, or store it all either.

As history has shown us time and time again, it doesn't matter. In less than a years time look what pricing has done. Look at the supply chain. By the time you notice, it's too late, the damage is already done. The problem is, idealists never learn from history, because they always think they can do it better. The big problem facing America right now is the fact that everyone thinks it can't happen here. So they will be caught off guard. What happens when all of the big cities run out of stuff? Your average person keeps a 1/4 tank of fuel in their car and goes grocery shopping 2x a week. The average person isn't very bright.

Supply systems are stressed, not in the way you might think. We deal with a lot of farm and ranch products, this puts us in a number of feed stores and the like. They are in a feast and famine cycle.
Customers come in and some over stock on products, thinking they will not be able to get more. This cleans the store out. They reorder based on sales, so they get a small shipment this week, and it looks like they are out of everything. Then the system orders a large quantity, now the store is overloaded, only to get cleaned out again. Repeat this cycle over.

Most store owners I have talked to say they just can't get items. I was at the local lumber store this past weekend wanting some t111. They had none in stock and had no idea when they were going to get any. I went in to buy screws. They had no general construction screws on the shelf at all. I dont know what is all going on, just sucks having to deal with it.

Last night at the flying J in rapid city, I would bet there where more cars and campers in the parking lot than trucks. Even some guys in tents. It's like having a front row seat to watch the fall of an empire.
