They were losing $2500 unit on every 07 C7 to compete with Cummins and that is why the smaller engines went first. Their biggest issue was having to have dozens of ARD housing designs to fit into all the different chassis configurations which reduced their efficiency. On the equipment side they were able to design all systems to work together without compromise.

I honestly think most of these modern engines would be pretty good without it.
Guys would retrofit new engines into old trucks.

This industry used to full of guys updating equipment for performance and fuel economy. Last 20 years has been the opposite.

Something like a dd16 with 700/2250 would be pretty wild w/o all that crap hanging off it. Some older 14L Detroit's in the oilfield stationary equipment were rated at 665hp

Me too. 10 years ago you could go on any hill top around here and spot a bunch of em. I know there's a handful around here now and picking up some since nat gas is around 6 a cubic foot. Schlumberger out of horseheads ny I see running quite a bit of cement now.

@D.Tibbitt you get the tractor back yet? Saw you got the wagon back, good deal. That stone you haul, do you know what they do with the finished product? Around here in blue stone country that's what's known as saw rock. Gets a heat treatment and cut anywhere from .75-1.5 inch+ slabs

No truck is in the shop still . week number 6...

And yes the stone - the company i get it from, the dump trucks take the smaller pieces from the quarry and haul it to the shop where they cut corners and smaller pieces for fireplaces, counter tops, flooring , etc... The big boulders we take they go to landscaping projects. Lots of retaining walls built from it. The rich people like to line the driveway with it . the super rich people like to buy the corner and smaller slabs to line the entire outside of their house with it... For example this is one of the smaller houses in the neighborhood :biggrin_25523: the entire house is built with rock.

The one job we were doing last year built a huge retaining wall along the driveway and built a whole pond section complete with 3 waterfalls ..wish i had some pics of that turned out really really cool...

The one big jobsite im doing we must have took 30 loads last year and a good 25 loads this year and they are still needing alot more.... These homeowners in this area have way to much money to spend. I think the cheapest house ive seen is somewhere around 5 million

    That's a sweet house.

I kind of thought that's what the bigger rocks went to. Only the big guys do that around here. Lots of start up money involved in that
