Back together and running. I think she’s gonna be ok.

100% my fault. I had a oil leak. Front rocker box gasket. So I pulled it apart in the yard yesterday. Simple job. Valve cover, jake head, rocker assemblies, injectors, thermostat housing and thermostats, some water lines and wiring, then yank the rocker box. As I got going back together a storm built up just to the northeast. It was sunny and sweaty hot when I started. As it became apparent I was about to get wet, I broke rule #1 and rushed. Didn’t get one of the pushrods seated in the lifter/cam follower.

Just got the top on when the downpour started. Lasted about an hour. Then I went out and started her up and she was missing. I killed it immediately. Pulled it back apart today and found this.

Y’all learn from my screw-up. Do NOT rush engine work. This could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully this is the only damage. She sounds real good right now idling.

Why am I at the TA in Rockwall..?

    That’s a good question, guys. I don’t have a good answer.

    Stupidity. Mostly.

Well that's good news. I thought something had let loose. Nevermind, glad you got it fixed without anything major.

Seems bout anyone who has ever worked on a big cam or N14 has either almost done it or have done it. It's not hard at all for that to happen for sure, I've seen bent valves and broken rockers over that. Good deal bud
