You can thank ford's over assisted power steering system for that. Grandpa had an 86 bronco that I got when I turned 16 and it was sloppy then with a mere 50k miles on it. Tightening the screw on the top of the box helped along with some bigger tires. Never needed bushings or anything of the sort. You could just turn it by blowing on the wheel.

I have a theory about that. ANY vehicle built in the 80s is pure and utter crap! The 70s made great long lasting vehicles. The 90s had great innovation. #### the 80s vehicles. They all suck!

 

I don't disagree. The early beginnings of modernized conveniences really hindered the over all build quality. Basic replacement parts are hard to find. I searched high and low for window switches and pig tails for that thing to no avail at the time. It's no use to me to have things not work and be un fixable since there's no parts available. So off it went to the next guy. Where it is now who knows.

 

Say no more!! I could probably spare one or a bakers dozen without the ol Lady noticing..
I know what 2 Lane is getting for Christmas next year..
