Wait, hear me out. If they are younger it means when you retire they still have to get up and go to work!

Today I figured I'd tackle the block heater on my '11 5.0 F-150, I'm not a Ford guy but this little truck will start at -40 with no functioning block heater. But it sure isn't happy about doing it.
Tested the plug for continuity, nothing. 2 piece cord, unplugged at the junction and tested...still no go. Fark. Followed cord to block heater...oh boy. Called the dealer, Ford says driver's side exhaust manifold must be removed, youtube says intake, alternator, and tensioner pulley.
Currently researching plan B. Thinking of just installing an inline circulating heater.

I've got one of those aluminum F150's with the 5.0 and they aren't pleasant to work on. I wanted to put a set of long tubes on mine but after reading that you have to unbolt the engine mounts and lift the engine a few inches to get the old manifolds to clear the studs I gave up on that idea.

Maybe when I buy an El Camino I'll park the Ford for a few weeks and put some go fast goodies on it.

Don't know if you've had yours done yet, but there's a recall on the block heater cords for model years 2015-2019 according to the stealership. Apparently also not a fun job lol

They did mine a few years ago. There's an open recall on these trucks until like 2028 for the door latches. Mine's been done twice already and probably will need them done again soon.
