Nope, they're some of the best people I've ever known. I went to school at U L Lafayette for three winters and worked in Houma and Venice during the summer time.
    I almost stayed down there.

I agree. Keep your money in the coffee can. Need more money do local or regional for some one. To many jobs out there to put up with an idiot for a boss.

Yes, I write 47 different languages and hold current certificates in all. Right now my contracts are financial and security projects.

You're right about the people. Once they accepted you it was like being part of a huge family. I still stay in touch with some of the people I knew down there. I go back to visit every couple of years and some of them have visited here.
I couldn't stay, much as I wanted to. I really thought about it. My wife had scholarships for west coast schools and I missed her, simple as that. Also, as good as the Cajun people were I didn't know how they'd react to a mixed marriage. That was in the middle 60s and some things weren't acceptable in those days.
The wife and I had 52 years together. I think I made the right choice.

I hear ya. Unfortunately, there's no magic pill. However, why dump all your savings into a truck/trailer, with the very high probability of losing it right now? I've started over many times. I'm known to take some gambles in life. I've won a few and lost a few. However, it's not real hard to read the tea leaves right now. Maybe a different line of work. One that doesn't involve you sinking all your savings into a vehicle. Pretty much everyone is hiring now and looking for folks. A ton are willing to train and wages have definitely gone up. Hell, McDonald's in Amarillo was starting at $18hr no experience. Look, I don't know what the right answer here is. What I do know is, I wouldn't be betting the farm on trucking right now.

Well you got me beat. :( Never really counted how many I know, but have dabbled in quite a few, and only a few certificates. Had to put all that on the side to focus on the menial job I retired from, although I tried to keep my hand it. Figure when I can't work physically at all, I'll be able to focus on it again...but am working on a few side projects (one involving trucking) that I keep going back to. :)
