Kinda gotta agree. Friend is a salesman for the local Peterbilt dealership, he said right now is the time to sell, not buy. He said it’s crazy right now….

 

Yea I have to question, does it share that info with someone I can’t see…..?

Mr. Jim, I agree with you 99.9% of the time, but this is one time I have to disagree. I had an 8V92 once upon a time, and I hated that POS engine with a passion. I may have had a lemon, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

 

I have spoke with others who had a similar experience.


I have found over the years, there is good and bad in all of them.

My personal experience with the 2 strokes has been good for the most part. A 2 strokes best job is setting screaming as a stationary setup though.

Little things create big problems…. The last 8V92TA I owned had over $9,500 spent on it by the previous owner. From the day he got it back till he sold it, it dribbled oil out the air box drains… lot more than normal.

There is an art to installing the plugs at each end of the wrist pin, and if not sealed properly…. The pressurized oil at the wrist pin will squirt right out through the intake ports in to the air box and right on to the ground through the drains.

Not sure I’d want a younger inexperienced person driving a truck with one actually, just in the event it went for a moonshot…
