No, I was talking about all of us that have busted our hump, saved and did without and had all the smart people tell that we were stupid not to “Be working on other peoples money” — I might be dumb, but I know where there’s a couple crown royal bags with Benjamin’s in it, 3 - 4 freezers full in the immediate family, and a couple in the feed yard just in case

I think he said it how he meant it. Those that don’t have all the cool toys are often looked down upon as if they can’t afford them. That is not always the case.

It's all about balance right, using credit as a tool rather than a crutch, shooting for meat instead of antlers.
Self reliance and diversification is key as well as keeping an open mind to listen to the old timers that have been through hard times before.
You mentioned family, that's extremely important. A tight knit community or family stands a better chance at weathering the storm than a single character.

Right on!!— one of the goals that I have had all my life is to take a 30” or better buck— due to the training I received from some old uncles and gramps, the only way it will happen is if it’s the first one I see

    Sunday thought
I went yesterday to get some small parts- cost less here than online + shipping. "Free 2 day" shipping is fading fast from what I see. So maybe back to what is left of local vendors order it up for the next truck and wait. Who here remembers ordering parts blue & red label?
So shipping is getting expensive, online sales shipping is more than the item or at least adds big to the cost
IMO the little guy is going to get hurt, but not as bad as the investor class. The market fueled being able to offer "free shipping" which isn't possible, quarterly report showing huge "earnings" to get more money to offer "free shipping" and get big gross numbers.......

Yea that shooting for antlers so you can boast, still leaves a hollow spot in the stomach. Many just give it away which is fine. But you have to wonder, if things get tough, will they still focus on the antlers…?

So much truth there in that statement! I grew up poor as a snake, and still do things that make many think I’m below average. It’s hard for me to go and buy “new” just because I can, but being able to sign your name and walk out with it makes you feel good, just don’t have to….
