Looks like a little rain and snow is coming in this afternoon, so considering Montana's lack of road maintenance, we're gonna take the big road and try to get ahead of it.

Safe travels. If u stay on the interstate you could stop in butte/rocker at the town pump and get that 5lb bag of gummy bears I was trying to talk @shooter19802003 into yesterday

Basically the truck talks to the controller, controller tells the dash what to tell me. Instead of tons wires and air lines for things having to run from the dash to various things it all just gets put onto the main data network on the truck.
In layman's terms the engine tells the cab controller hey I've got 60psi of oil pressure, coolant is a balmy 180 degrees, the alternator is kicking out 14v and we are rotating at 1200 rpm. Meanwhile the transmission is telling it that we are bouncing down the road at 70mph and the oil temp is 160. The cab controller then puts that info on its own little data network that each gauge is connected to one after the other and pulls whatever info it needs in order to display what it's supposed to.
All the info comes in on the "blue" cable. Then all the gauges are connected together via the "yellow" cables. Each gauge knows what info it's supposed to display so it just takes what it needs and ignores the other info.
You know those 2 wires that are twisted together? That's the canbus, its what all the stuff travels around the truck on. It blows my mind how all this different information can travel down the same 2 wires at the same exact time but somehow it does it and rarely has any issues doing it.DeereRunner97, CAXPT, Brettj3876 and 13 others Thank this. -
This has been running around town for a couple years— guy that owns the old time furniture store did all the work— much cooler than his Corvette

Yeah. That's sweet! Do you remember the one that used to be in the Iowa 80? I don't know if it's still there or not. Haven't been there in some time to look.
Ive never understood the corvette thing. I've always thought they were ugly. Guys treat them like they are a Ferrari and not a Chevy. Never did get it. I could go on. I just never understood it.beastr123, CAXPT, Brettj3876 and 6 others Thank this.
