Well, let's just put it this way. I've never had my door pounded on because someone wanted me to move. I find a way NOT to impede others, but that goes back to that philosophical question again, about not being inconsiderate.![]()

I dunno, I see both sides. I don't have an eld and hope I never do. Your tired and out of hours, where you gonna go. Because at midnight...ish, everything else Is full too. It's like the guys that park on the ramp, then others are 1/2 mile down the ramp on the interstate. That's dumb. However, where do you go? I dunno, what the answer is. There just needs to be alot more parking.cke, PoleCrusher, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this.

Well that, and better planning. It goes back to that philosophy, thing. You don't burn up all your time and hope to get somewhere to park at the end. Start looking early, shutdown early if need be, or adjust your driving time accordingly. My way of dealing with it when the parking got tight again is that I would be coming into a truckstop at about the same time others were getting ready to leave and start their day. Always had a parking spot. Or, when weather isn't great (winter) shut down early and don't push the clock..but my best reason is that I would plan my sleep time to be at the shipper or receiver, so plenty of room and time to shut down at. I know that's not practical for all situations and locals, but then you have to adjust accordingly. If the day's going bad like it was for you the other day...I would have shut down at the closest place I could prior to burning my hours... it worked for me. Drive at night in good seasons, drive during the day in bad seasons and shutdown early if necessary.

I get it. However, as I understand it.....these big companies pretty much control every aspect of the truck. They control load/Unload appointments, where you fuel and how much fuel you put in......etc. so if they tell you to drive, you drive. I guess.exhausted379, cke, CAXPT and 2 others Thank this.
