Oregon's commercial season is open now. My brother will fish the rest of the season up there. California doesn't open 'til later but he'll probably go for albacore instead. I don't lknow about the sport season.
I don't know when the sport season is open. I'd have to look it up.
Commercial in Oregon is open now and some of our guys fish the openers and then drift back down here when the California season opens. A lot of the fishermen don't even mess with California salmon more than a trip or two. They go straight to Albacore and fish that until fall.

Nope, a little ways south of there. Pepperwood. Since the flood of 64 it's not on all the maps

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We count on the winter crab season for most of our income now. Salmon is hit and miss with a short and split up season.. Albacore is a gamble on the price being there when you bring in a load.
LOL...if you think truckers complain a lot you should be around a bunch of fishermen. A lot of times they don't know how much money, if any, they're making until they sell. They have reason to complain.
I remember once when I was a kid we stayed out two weeks chasing albacore. The fish wouldn't school up, the weather was lousy, and the price dropped while we were out. The boat grossed two hundred dollars. I made 10% of that.

I've never been around commercial fishing. Always found it fascinating though.

$200 gross. Wow, the owner lost his ### that year. Gees, that sucks.
