All I can say is, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t….and overtime something that did - doesn’t

I did 15 years the first time and did 10 years the 2nd time

    as they say crap happens

not interested in a 3rd strike

guess I am not willing to work hard enough….

Exactly! You want to be out of the truck, but then you get home and are all excited....have nothing to do, nobody to see and you hate it and just want to be on the road again. It's a love-hate relationship type of deal.

Bee and my step dad is the relationship I anchor to, certainly not my bio parents who left the three of us in base housing and disappeared until we were all 20 plus.

I am sure she has told you this story, but my step dad showed up on his tricycle and proceeded to pedal them to the church to be married......at 3 years old. While the story is heart warming and cute, they never changed their minds about each other or their relationship.

He spent months at a time way from the family while building a career in federal law enforcement. But while she was our always steady rock, she was his as well. While she will tell you she is not everything for everyone, she can and does care for people. Need something? You don't need to call, she is on her way already. Need a place to stay, a hot meal, a hug to help with a broken heart? Consider it done. But even with all that, those that were considered family. came first.
She talked to my step dad twice a day no matter where in the world he was, if he forgot to call she would call his boss and in her best steel magnolia voice, ask him where her husband was. I was 13 our 14 and heard her in the phone with my step dad and she said, after not being able to find him for 2 days, of that happened again he would have to find a different job because her heart couldn't take the fear she had lived with for the past two days. He never made that mistake again.

They were partners. We could not play him against her, they had already talked about it and were a unified force.

She made sure that he was home on the big dad events. Otherwise the guys that are in her room now were they strong, positive male enfluences that all boys need. She also knew that those big strong special forces guys, needed three growing boys to help grow and shape while their step father was a way.

No matter how long he was away, we could always feel their love for us, and each other.

There is not one of us boys that have not searched for and found, a relationship like theirs. They taught us well.

They were together for 57 years and married for 38 years.

    Son number 2

I waited till 31 to get married, 37 for first kid. And now in a divorce at 41. Even when people try, it still don't work out sometimes.

One and done for me, a boat would be a better investment at this point moving forward. Lol

100%. Bad things happen to good people.
My wife and I dated 1.5 years, married, had our 1st 1 year later. We've been together 23 years now. It was definitely not easy, but we had the will to work with each other and accept each other.
I'm definitely 1 and done. If something were to happen, I wouldn't be doing this again.
Most of the couples we have known have all divorced and moved on. Some were smooth, the kids were cared for during the process, and all went well.
Some were completely irrational idiots intent on destroying each other and everything.

I'm dealing with kids that never had that chance. 1 night stands, abuse, drugs. These kids will be a burden on society for life.
These are the too easy to procreate I was referring too.

I understand, no worries here. I was just adding to it.

The generation of women and men who I grew up around would make most of the men and women look like Daffy Duck getting his teeth knocked out if they were alive today.

Needless to say I should have been born 100 years ago.

Been with mine 9 years this past March. We both had kids from previous relationships. We waited till 7 years to have a child. Still not married. I am 40 she is 38. It’s funny all the people that give me grief for not marrying her yet have crappy marriages LOL
