The beat thing about lowboy work when I did it was being able to load and unload without other humanoids involved.Crusader66, dwells40, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this.

Still is for the majority of it. May have an escort out with you but that’s it for the most part. Bigger stuff turns into a group effort. Some machines now you’re only moving 1/3 of the thing but you still have 10 or 11 axles under it. Between customers, manufacturer or importer and my guys sometimes there’s 2 or 3 crews involved in getting it on and off the trailer.Crusader66, dwells40, cke and 5 others Thank this.

Big tin foe on that!!
With ramps it's about 99% self unload. Better be a good reason for why I have to risk someone else going up/down em..
When docks are involved it's only about 50% I can do it. Company policy, on there turf is usually why no. Once was told the union operator must be the only one to ever turn the key.. lol
They actually got all uppity at Deere when loading these 2 machines. Run em on before I could assess the weights & placement. Spread was over by about 3k lbs.
They didn't have to leave the wagon, but just drive each back about 10 foot so I could put up the ramps for the skidsteer to go on the upper, then center the 655k. You would've thought I yellowed the kids cheerios.. lol

It was always nice dropping a backhoe, forklift, or a track loader out in the woods in the middle of nowhere. That almost made working what’s now less than minimum wage worth it for a driver with 3 years experience.Nostalgic, pete781693, Crusader66 and 7 others Thank this.

Never allow anyone to set anything on your trailer in a place you’re uncomfortable with. I’m old enough, loaded enough trailers, and cranky enough when needed, to stop anyone from moving anything as far as my trailer goes….
