    That is now the Louisianna end of the property. I recently had the property split so the main house is now all in Texas and the Cove property as now only in Louisiana. Should make things easier for those that will inherit the property. French law is very interesting when it comes to heirs.

    French law can be interesting in a lot of ways. Up until 1974 every lease in the province of Quebec expired the same day. Left over loi to stop the Siegneurs from evicting tenant farmers over the winter. The law was repealed, but by tradition everybody still moves the same day. Moving day in Montreal is a spectator sport for Anglos.

    Yes, a little French law and Cajun customs and you have a huge FUBAR. Don't try to die without a Cajun heir, that just won't do.

    Quebec has a full on French legal system, not just French customs. Quebecois is a little fubar. It only makes sense to Quebecois. Acadians in the Maritimes speak the same ancient dialect the French down there speak. Quebecois and Acadians usually speak English to one another, it’s just easier than sorting out the grammar and vocabulary differences in the French.
