3-Limitations are my own lack of goals. I'm far from the pinnacle of trucking, but also haven't figured where I want to go from here? Yet content.. Acquiring more direct customers would be nice, but no desire to add capacity limits that aspect..

Deviating from the dating part here, but my default setting struggle seems to still be with laws/regulations I belive to be total bullspit..

Don't wanna get into all my personal scuffs on open fourm, but I'm a 2 time loser from choices made 19yrs ago. Successfully completed a program a few years later & have my civil rights restored. So let's just use ELD's as the example..

Instead of rising to the challenge of figuring out a new piece of unwanted technology, & how to work it in my favor, (if that's even possible for an indy O/O) the mind immediately went to how to skirt the reg & keep my way of operating intact..

Initial voice in my head said
-just use 8 day exemption & toss logs out the window
-eff em', get a jail broke eld
-eff it all together, no rods is better that false rods
-sell the 2012 & get a '93
The latter is what I chose. Got ol Buck Dec. '17 just as the mandate hit. But changing that default ain't easy. 1st three "solutions" weren't legal, yet seemed like viable options..

That's the hardest thing for me. I can take & follow direction/advice just fine. But being pushed around by stupid laws/regs makes me want to dig my heels in, often times to my own detriment..

Another thing a person should include in their "default mode" is to lead by example. Rather than whine and complain about something, just step up and fix it.

 

As a Commercial driver, sure can be denied entry. Applied for a fast card years ago, they did the background checks and said nope. Some old citation that I didn’t even remember. Wasn’t even a felony.

The laws and regs are STUPID because they are designed to make Mr Moron D Trucker, stupid incarnate, competitive. Has zero to do with safety. Zilch.

Think about it: If you cannot figure out when you need to shut it down and rest, the safe thing to do is put your stupid arse out of the business. Period.

If you can be forced by a desk jockey to something against your will, you are a danger to the public and should not be driving. Do 5000 jumping jacks and let those nuts drop.

Irrelevant. Make that 10000 jumping jacks. If you are going to do the family thing, stones are mandatory for a Man.
