I love the first snowfall of the year
We were literally inching along on a highway we could have safely done 70-75 on. Made better time punching through 10" snow drifts on the dirt range roads than the main highway lol.
Where is everyone #5

ANY of the large breed "guard dogs" are a good choice. They all, if trained properly, and that training is kept up on a regular basis, are great "guard dogs". But, it's a lot of work and the responsibility of having a loaded revolver around all the time is yours.
The second choice is a "watch dog"
They are usually but now where near always smaller, easier to train, not such a liability, but, when they learn their pack, they will ALWAYS, be on watch and let you know anytime someone is where they shouldn't be, long before they have a chance to do anything.
My little girl is smart as a whip, and knows the ropes and first month in the truck saved me 2 tanks of fuel in Houston. She took the end of a guys finger off who saw the windows open in the truck and tried to climb up on the step and reach in and open the door. He didnt see her snoozing on the bed and wanted to investigate the inside of the truck I guess. Tried to sue me.. lol
At home she alerted me to a guy at 3am, just "stopping by to have a look at your 86 square body" in my driveway, on our private road.....
Just some food for thought.
Edit,
She will snuggle in bed and AFTER, we go to sleep leave quietly, and sleeps on the arm of the sofa, looking out the window at the driveway and yard. Always.
She is always on the bed in the truck when I go to sleep. And ALWAYS in her seat, head under the curtains watching out when I wake up. I NEVER tought her any of that, she just does it. some say it's the poodle, they were the Royals Guard dogs?

We probably got 6" of snow since last night. I gotta get a tractor or snowblower. I don't have the energy to shovel 100 feet of driveway multiple times per week.
Supposed to hit -17°C or 1°F tonight. Got the wheels plugged in for tomorrow.Flint1, jamespmack, Isafarmboy and 8 others Thank this. -
I figured the Lizzy would be a disaster so I took a different highway. Turned out to be a dumb move so I snaked my way through range and township roads over to the QE2 and it was clear sailing all the way. Hardly any traffic.
Thinking I'm going to take backroads in tomorrow. Keep away from traffic as much as possible.Flint1, jamespmack, Feedman and 8 others Thank this. -
Didn't get that much snow but it was blowing ... raining yesterday...staying home was an easy decisionFlint1, jamespmack, PoleCrusher and 5 others Thank this.
