Made my delivery in Amarillo this past Monday. I took my time getting there over the weekend and Saturday morning I found myself parked at the Biscuit Hill Travel Plaza in Shawnee Oklahoma. This place turned out to be a good little spot and it always had parking throughout the day and the night. So, Saturday afternoon I'm getting ready to leave for Amarillo and all of my electronics and accessories shut off. When my blower motor shuts down I know that my system voltage has dropped. I take a look at the volt meter and sure enough it's sitting on 12.6V. Time to do some simple diagnostics and after checking all the batteries and battery cables I determined that the diode in the alternator has failed. My engine uses the Delco/Bosch 24SI pad-mount style alternator which makes finding a replacement very easy. I called MHC Kenworth in OKC and they have 32 of these alternators in stock as well as several upgrades.

Here is where my mood went from good to bad. I use Lyft exclusively for my rideshare purposes and I have for several years. When using Lyft if you schedule your ride in advance you can save quite a bit of money especially on longer rides. I scheduled mine for Sunday morning and for a total of $104.96 I had a round trip ride for 102 miles. Great price or so I thought. My driver picked me up without a hitch and we were off to OKC for an alternator.

The new alternators do not come with a pulley so you have to switch it out with your old one. No big deal. One of the texts swapped out the pulleys for me and I let my driver know that I was going to need a few extra minutes to switch pulleys and she said no problem. The total time that it took to purchase the alternator and swap pulleys and get back to my ride was 32 minutes. Easy. She takes me back to my truck and when the ride ends I'm hit with an exorbitant amount from Lyft. They not only charged me the $104.96 but for the 32 minute wait time they charged me $198.60. my driver didn't know anything about the charge as she did not receive any of that extra money. It all went to Lyft. I didn't care so much about the amount of the added cost but it was not being told about it was what made me mad. Lyft customer service tells me that the driver should have known to end the ride so they didn't charge me the extra amount. Rant complete.

I made it home Monday afternoon so I can go trick or treating with my little boy and his friends like I said I would.

Now, on to this week. Haha. I picked up some parts for a friend in Dallas and I found a good load from the metroplex down south to Conroe. Got loaded Thursday morning with gate materials and took them to Conroe and delivered Thursday afternoon.

I was looking at Lowe's Friday morning and didn't really see anything that I liked so I went ahead and booked one for Monday morning out of Louisiana going to Lakeland New Jersey. 30 minutes later I see a Hot load pop up going from the Houston city docks to Panama City Florida paying $4,000 for 636 miles and I grabbed it so I could make some money over the weekend.

I'm taking my time since I don't have to deliver until Monday morning and I'm cruising I-10 eastbound through Baton Rouge tonight. IMG_20221104_173142.jpg IMG_20221104_173148.jpg

Which is why I liked avoiding going there anywhere near this time of year. :)

Just make sure you get the non-expanding kind, I think it's "Door and Window", so it doesn't bow the frames. :)

The only thing that gets me to go east is if I need to grab a load of coal. I'll run the little roads from Mahanoy City to Milton just to avoid as much 80 traffic as I can. The way the gov like to throw up restrictions and truck bans when snow flakes hit, I'd rather have another state residence and just avoid coming here altogether.

That's because the entitled generation thinks they're entitled to pass the driver's ed, but apprently the testers agree, because they aren't stopping them from getting licenses. :(

PAI is in the house, look a lot better than new Volvo lines. Been dealing with some leaky lines the last few weeks. Got all 6 new ones now. Any time the fan came on it was a blast in the face.

Not a garden hose leak :p but quite noticable
