Yep….. again. Series 60. The driver said the crankshaft was walking forward and backwards and making a noise….

Not a normal issue. They tend to chuck a rod before breaking a crank. But who knows.

He stopped by to pay me before I took my wife out to eat. Said he fired it up and looked at it. After shutting it off he did he could move the balancer any way he wanted to.

He’s thinking the crank is broken.

But he also told me that the crank had been welded up and turned back down on #2 rod journal, and he’s thinking it is broke there.

Guess we’ll find out in a short time, he has 3 trucks broke down right now. All 3 have Detroit’s, I’ve heard a lot of good things about the series 60, he’s not having much luck…..

Boy, this brings back memories. :)
Used to carry that in the loader bucket to a job, put it on, break out the concrete, put the tooth bucket back on and get to work. :) I miss that job....but had to leave before they yanked the pension apart in the next negotiations. :(

When I bought my truck it was drug to me on this old wrecker. He tried to sell it to me then but I didn’t see a need for it.

Few years later I bought a frame from him, once again he tried to sell the wrecker. My gut told me I needed to take it home.

I’ve used this thing at least 5 times now, even towed a truck to Texas, then brought back another truck. I’ve had it in Tennessee and SC too.

If you look closely, the engine that’s now in my truck, is setting behind the sleeper of the black W9…..

Busy day for 1 truck while the other one is sidelined. Pick up at 5pm, hook to the other wagon and deliver at midnight the load I picked up Friday. Then head down to jersey city 8am and over to Bethlehem
