The 2 forms of ID is a bit strange. The must be US Citizen is not so unusual, might be picking or dropping at a government agency.
Here is something a bit funny.
Did several loads of machine tooling. Have to be Citizen to haul. Picked up from secure cargo area at airport. Went to a rocket manufacturer. All the tooling was from Germany and Italy. -
I have a specific shipper who sent out email asking all carriers what languages they could add to new safety signs.
My response was, less. Just have one, English. Because they do not care about safety and putting signs up doesn't really solve the problems.
My input was not highly appreciated. -
I delivered a bridge beam to a project last week and out of the 4 of us there that morning, 1 spoke zero English, well, other than saying "no English", he tried to use hand charades to communicate. How is he driving here? Another spoke a few words, but the crew closed his spread as he had no idea how to use his equipment. Other than following a GPS in their language, I really don't know how they can get around not being able to read road signs.

Funniest thing I ever saw at a scale. Wyoming PoE has a guy at the counter when I walked in. Had a picture of the Move over or Slow down sign on the desk. Trooper tells him to read the sign and explain what it means. Guy couldn't do it. Trooper told him to go sit along the wall and call somebody who can answer the questions. Truck stays parked until a driver who can read and explain the sign shows up.
All the trooper wanted was for the guy to explain what emergency vehicle was. -
Shaft in the PTO stripped out putting a stop to my radiator switch out yesterday…..

I fully understand, followed a dry van across Kentucky few weeks ago and as I got closer seen something hanging under the trailer. Realized it was the Maxi / brake chamber hanging by the air lines. Got his attention and of course NO CB… Gave him hand signals there was something broke and he turned his signal on for the pickle park just ahead.
As I was walking to his truck he was walking down the side towards the rear.
I walked up and pointed to the axles explaining what I had seen, and as soon as he tried to talk I knew we had a language barrier.
He finally looked up under where I was pointing and seen the issue.
He was babbling and making hand signals about tying it up so it didn’t hang down.
Question is…. how long has it been like that, how long did he drive that day with WV in his rear view with brakes not up to full potential?
I don’t begrudge the man for working, but I have to wonder if a good walk around inspection was down before he pushed the knobs in?
That made 2 trucks in about 6 weeks I found with the same problem on the trailer…. Drop and hook and no looky looky?
Other man was at a red light in Hurricane, I jumped out since NO CB communication… and started running up the side of his truck. Fortunately he looked in the mirror as he eased out and seen me then stopped.
Once again…. Brake chamber / Maxi hanging down…..cke, CAXPT, Swine hauler and 7 others Thank this. -
Got the radiator put together and waiting for the shaft to repair the pto on the boom truck…
