I never had much time for practicing vertical but I do pretty good with flat. 1/16" flux core wire with C25 shielding gas.

The first time on the highway was like a shock to the system. I now know how a stripper feels the first time ever onstage. EXPOSED!!!!!

You see everything. You heard everything. You smell everything. You feel everything. And if you aren’t careful, you will taste bugs. All of the senses are heightened.

Cars today have electronic everything. Steering, brakes, suspension, climate control. They dull the senses. Motorcycles are much more bare bones. There’s much more connection between you and the road.

For many, firing all the senses off wears them out. That’s why many struggle to stay awake in a big rig. But for some of us, having the senses jacked and heightened for extended periods is like drugs. You’re ripping down your favorite road, and being much more bare bones, the bike responds to you when YOU want it to (that’s the main advantage the manual transmission has over an auto…the connection to the road, well in the mind of the road warrior) and how you want.

And using front brake 95% of the time.
I still do, I stop mostly on front, and bring rear in if I need to stop faster. I know this is not proper. It's how I was taught as a kid, and learned to never over ride front, Or front only for panic, probably why I should never teach a beginner.

I would love to have one setting in garage. Just might in the future. Street bikes are fun, but nothing like tearing butt down a muddy trail.

I bought some #14 self tap screws, and a 2”x 2” x 4ft section of L channel at Home Depot. Maybe 1/8 thick idk.

Used a car Jack to lift the bottom. Put the L channel on the bottom back from the outside, then started hitting it with the self tappers on the inside.

Cannot tell from the outside. Looks ok on the inside of the box. Will probably hold more weight than originally because of the L channel. Won’t be 100% waterproof but good enough.

This why I don't try to rack up too many miles on long trips on the bike.
300 -400 miles per day is usually my and the wife's limit on the bike.
Maybe it's just me but I'm drained after that. In the big truck 800 plus isn't a problem.
