Quick update, I just finished with the back yard cement Thursday and have been recovering since. :)
Started with this after taking out the loose and unstable concrete from the cut areas, these were taken 10/5:

The first one needs to be taken out yet, that's the next to be done, but the 2nd and 3rd pics was painstaking, since I had to slowly take out only the bad stuff, and more would go bad..etc. Ordered 2 pallets of 80 lb bags of concrete the day before my birthday, had it delivered on the 12th and tarped it all up because we were getting rain. On the17th, bought a Harbor Freight 3.5 cu.ft. Cement Mixer, but had to take it back because it was damaged, and then got a replacement one from another store and had to assemble it.
Edit: Almost forgot, after the first pour the cement mixer stopped working and had to find a replacement keyway key after disassembling the drum and gear, and replacing the key and then Loctite-ing the screw in the gears.

Did first section pour on 10/21 and it took 18 bags and took about 6 hours:

then was down for 3 more days of rain, and then did this next section on 10/24 and it took 13 bags:

This one kicked my butt as it was really hot and muggy, but I wanted to get more done so ended up working straight through for 4 hours and ended up dehydrating and sending the BP and pulse up and took several hours to get everything back down...so took it easy the next few days as we had more rain again. Then had to reapply more bonding adhesive since it washed off again, and then did this next section which took 20 bags and about 8 hours (but in cooler weather) with a break every couple hours to get done. :)

These sections were important to get done because they were in varying depths, with a minimum of 2" as required for the cement to bond well, up to 6" depth where the section was really bad and the total for the back area was 51 bags of concrete.

The very first section that needs to be done yet, will all be coming out, no picking about to find good/bad concrete and will have to be poured in one section with expansion joint installed top and bottom...but it will be a full 6" depth and I calculated it's going to be about 31 bags of cement that will need to be poured. At best, I fgure I can stop at the half way point where the center seam from the other slab is that comes up the middle, and pour more the next day if I'm unable to pour all 31 in one day. If my calculations are right for this slab, that means I'll have only been 2 bags over in estimation, but it's not done yet....so hopefully I won't have to be running for more at the last second. :(

It rained yesterday, today and is supposed to rain tomorrow, so figuring to take the broken concrete, some in that brown waste can in the pics and more in about 6 Home Depot buckets, in the garage Monday to the local cement dumping area, and then get busy Tuesday tearing out that last section and trying to get it done...oh pooh, can't have a hole out there on Halloween, so I guess I'll start tearing it out Wednesday and try to get it done before the weekend....sore muscles willing. :)

Nice thing about being retired, you can adjust your work schedule however you want around your aches and pains. :)

Burns more calories. I'll save my calories for cutting a ribeye up.
