That’s something I sure miss from my childhood, the fresh milk and the butter.

Aunt Winnie would save the cream each day, I would set of the evenings watching tv with a 1 gallon big mouth glass jar on my knee rocking it. Can still see the lumps slowly forming in my minds eye.

Aunt Winnie fix those big catheads in a big cast iron skillet, her homemade jelly or our own fresh honey or sorghum, it was a good life to be so hard at times.

We use to go out to our neighbors about 3/4 mile away and pick Quince from his tree, aunt Winnie would make a jelly called Quince honey, anyone every eat any…? Actually had a little honey taste to it….

Now that you mention it, I’m subscribed to the Abilene thread since they had a troll problem for a while, and I don’t get emails about that anymore. I do know the alerts on here will drop off after a day or two if you don’t at least look in on the thread.

The wrecking yard I got my cab from has a shop next door right now they're pulling sleepers off cabs and putting on day cab kits. She said they currently are selling them as fast as they can build them and sometimes before they are done.
A daycab with real vocational specs like the one I'm building is going to get top dollar.

One of my big customers told me that if my truck had a double frame and a dump bed, it would be worth much more than a sleeper truck right now….

If my General was road worthy at the moment I’d almost buy a bed for it, it has a double frame and a new hoist cylinder still on it.

Dump trucks are a hot commodity here right now, but when this road construction on 64 here drys up, I’d hate to be the guy making the payment on 6 or 7 new trucks with no work for them…

The gyppo's get called in when the players on the inside don't want to buy more trucks. Word gets around there's buckets of money being made and everybody and their brother is buying dump trucks. When the work flattens out the players kick the gyppos to the curb and keep their trucks busy.

True, but it seems that around here the big boys always use fair share of gyppos on the highway projects. Probably they can hire gyppos cheaper than buying more trucks and paying davis-bacon prevailing wages.
