Don't get too far ahead. Got the truck serviced today and when they went to pull the dipstick it broke off the cap and fell into the tube/pan. Hoping I can fish it out when I get home without pulling the pan.TX2Day, singlescrewshaker, cke and 10 others Thank this.

#3 already come and gone. APU coolant feed from the engine rubbed through on the exhaust. Leaked about a gallon a day until the TA shop guy fished the hose out from under the cab. One of those cases where an engineers wife was found with a mechanic. They buried the coolant lines on top of the motor/trans right behind the DPF. Zip ties just far enough in there that you can't reach them from any side. Pretty sure they put all that stuff in and then dropped the cab on top.TX2Day, singlescrewshaker, cke and 11 others Thank this.

I've had success in the past in getting one out by twisting a drill bit by hand in the tube to walk the broken dipstick out.TX2Day, singlescrewshaker, cke and 12 others Thank this.

Mine is out of sight unfortunately. Detroit decided to use flexible bit of cable attached poorly to the plastic cap. It's down past the first bend in the tube somewhere. I'm going to try shoving one of those flexible grabber thing down there and see if I can snag the end. If that doesn't work I'll try to remove the tube and hope it's still in there. I just hope it didn't drop all the way in and coil in the bottom.TX2Day, singlescrewshaker, cke and 6 others Thank this.

Your oil sump would have a screen on it, you might could just let it in there
