It's my trailer. The insurance company pretty much accepted my estimate in full with exception of loss of use. Swung by East and picked up the parts last week.

The temp repair I did - I tried 2 ways of tempering the aluminum. Marking it with a sharpie and heating until the sharpie disappeared was the best temperature, but I'd straighten a little and it would work harden, so I just soot'ed it with the acetylene and burned the soot off. Got it close enough to finish my week out.

As far as cutting the welds out, it was new territory for me on something this big. With all the different angles I had, a cutoff wheel was messy and lacking. I thought maybe a mutli-tool would work but it turned out to be a waste of time. Cutting as close as I could to the welds with a plasma torch and then using a nice sharp chisel with the air hammer worked the best at peeling the welds off. Cleaned up the remaining weld ridges with a flap wheel.

I never polished the rear because between the ICC verticals and the rubber dock bumpers, it's nearly impossible to get the buffer in there and I never have enough free time to take out the lights and do it right anyway, so I'm leaning towards painting it. The weather's going to flop on me and it would be just about impossible to get the trailer into the shop. Almost wish I did have some 8' tarps lol.

I was young once. Did the whole peer pressure thing where you didn’t want to be too smart in school so that people would like you. Dressed and acted a certain way so that people would like you. Did stupid stunts, and got hurt for people to like you.
Thing is, I worked as a grocery store stocker and a janitor 3rd shift while in high school. Went to school smelling like pine sol and mop water. Not cool. Was tired all the time. Not cool. Made straight A’s with minimal effort despite being tired. Not cool.
Wanted to be cool so others would like me, but wasn’t cool. As soon as I no longer cared what others thought about me and pine sol cologne and no longer tried to be cool, guess what happened?
My oldest nephew came to me and asked me if his hair was too long. Sorry dude, I don’t have conversations with dudes about their hair. That’s what women do with other women. He’s trying to be pretty, MISTAKE, wanted to get into the gym to become more attractive to girls, FUTILITY, and is indecisive, EFFEMINATE.
My middle nephew is the one who was taken out of public school because some other boy wanted to touch his wiener. His mom, my baby brother’s wife, told me and I asked her if he hit that kid in the mouth. “He’s not like that, Six.” Like what? “Violent.” Defending yourself is violence? I had no idea.
Well, this nephew came up to me and asked me a question about bullying. “Tio, if you were in school and saw a kid being bullied, what would you do?” Depends on what the kid being bullied does. If he puts up resistance, I help. If he flops around and acts helpless, I ignore the situation. “WHY?” You have to participate in your own rescue. (My baby brother was like a son to me. To see his sons like this actually hurts my heart. He failed his sons.) -
One of the greatest movies in history.

We had about the same experience. I worked McDonalds in winter and construction in summer. Then went to a slaughter house for night cleanup. That was a tough smell to loose. But it paid 2 bucks a hour more than McDonalds. Senior year got a night shift job at a truck shop. 80 mile round trip drive to start out sweeping floors and busting down tires outside of football season. We all did some of the same crap to impress your friends or women. But I will say I realized years later my father had been instilling the thought that you do not wanna be like everyone else at a very young age. However, I did not do well in school, no matter how hard I tried. Only reason I graduated was by taking a auto class at a votech. If it wasn't for good grades there, I would have flunked out of Highschool.Last edited: Mar 6, 2024

Gonna take it easy this week. Pulling a tandem axle 2019 Pitts RGN for a few days. It's not my trailer but I am considering acquiring this piece of equipment. It's a super nice wagon and it's in tip top shape but the only downside is the spring-ride suspension. It can be a little rough.
I grabbed a Komatsu WA-200 wheel loader minus the bucket from Keen Transport in League City, TX this morning and we are northbound to Tulsa, OK. Good paying easy load that keeps me close to home.
Today is my son's 9th birthday and we surprised him with a birthday trip to Houston this weekend to see the Savannah Banana's play at Minute Maid Park and then we are taking him to my wife's alma mater AKA Texas State University to see his first Bobcats college baseball game. Gonna be another great weekend with my family.

That’s what I wish I had learned when I was young.
It takes more effort and energy to be like everyone else. If I could have a conversation with a young me, I would slap him (me).
Six: Why in the hell are you trying to be like everyone else? If you do what everyone else does, you get what everyone else gets, including the girls that are the town bicycles.
Three: But Six, I don’t want to stand out!
Six: And you pursue the bicycles….
Three:……….
Six: Being well-mannered will make you stand out. Trying to be Cro Magnon, Three? Having manners is evidence that your Mom thought highly of you. Bad manners is a sign that your mom didn’t care.
Three: But Six….
Six: SHUT UP. The goal of listening is not to respond, but to understand
Three: i don’t understand….
Six: Do not respond until you do. Six back quiet.
