I used old 1qt. plastic oil jugs in a backpack while riding 2 strokes in the woods. 1 or 2 was usually enough to beeline it back to pavement.
I put 2 small u-bolts on an old Honda xl600 rear fender and I'd bungee a 1gal can between them. It worked well but I rarely ever needed the spare fuel on that bike.

I used to carry a 5L jerry can strapped on the rear seat of my 1100 shadow.
It was good for 250km with a light hand. The 244km between mac and grassland made me nervous.

I lost it once. Back tracked 30km to find it. Dam thing skidded about 100m off the road.

That they are spending to much money on equipment. "Fix it until parts just can't be found then buy used for cash." He could pinch a penny five ways from center. Miss that man.

All of us did a Houston and back yesterday. Will have a 34 and then back to it until probably October. Hopefully we will go back to part time or I may have a mutiny on my hands.

How many part time drivers make one full time driver? Dunno, still doing the math.

That's what I was looking at. Two of those would get me another 40 km down the road.

I packed a couple 1l bottle like these in the 90's. The only problem I had was the bottles tended to pressurize when packed in a black saddlebag for a long time. I started using and refilling them at least every second day of riding and stored them empty when the bike was parked.

That's a good thing to consider. Especially since @AModelCat is in the western Canada area so elevation changes will make it worse. Probably good to only fill 3/4 or so to keep from getting a face full of gas when opening it.

Yes 2 1.5l bottles holding 2.75l used on each fuel-up during the trip works.

This has turned into a lot more work than I’d hoped… IMG_0768.jpeg we took some time to throw some lead down range to eliminate some stress then right back to work… IMG_8127.jpeg IMG_8152.jpeg
