You know Mister Jim — I been fighting it cause I can’t be in the same room with my mom for more than 30 minutes before a brawl breaks out, but dad turns 85 in mid September and he’s not well and I tried every excuse I could think of, but after seeing your post I called and told them to get the club house reserved cause I’m bringing my #### down and I’m gonna cook and get everybody so F’d up they won’t be able to see straight for a couple of days— least I can do for him and it turns out that we’re cooking for over a hundred1951 ford, dwells40, blairandgretchen and 16 others Thank this.

They don't have to know them. They've been conditioned to think that divorce is easy, convenient and expected at some point.1951 ford, dwells40, blairandgretchen and 13 others Thank this.

From what I’ve seen, the absolute worst thing thing you can do in life, is bring a child into the world with a person that you dislike. Divorce may be easy and convenient, but the kid is what traps you for life. Worthless dudes try to knock women up to prevent them from leaving.
My niece went to college with plans to be a vet for big animals (she loves horses). College is the absolute worst thing for kids today. They cram all of these crazy ideas in the kid’s head and suddenly, your kid resents you for everything you value and taught them. So she had been working at Panda Express, but got a job at a vets office, supposedly her dream job. She quits the job because she doesn’t like the older people that work there. She goes back to Panda Express. She brings home 2 big dogs without asking her parents, bangs heads with her mom and moves out because she doesn’t want anyone telling her what to do. She wants to marry, but she only wants a submissive guy. She doesn’t want a Man because ‘they intimidate her,’ yet she’s a strong and independent woman.
You can only work at places where the people there are younger than you, you are afraid of masculine men, dislike older women, can’t be single but instead of being a lesbian you want dudes who are the equivalent of 2 legged earthworms because you are “strong and independent.” By age 30, she will be 300 lbs, twice as big as she is now. Enjoy. -
You know, Redbeard…if you told me that you were cloned by using Dad’s DNA only, I might believe you.

I couldn’t spend much time with mom myself before we were agitated at each other. But they were divorced as of 1966 so it wasn’t the same situation you have. Dad and I had a great relationship, we had the same views on many things, had the same likes as well. Dad and I loved bench shooting and spent many hours enjoying it together, the only other family member who shared that interest was my brother. My sisters had no interest at all but now that dads gone, they suddenly have interest in where dads guns are.
My stepmom ask me the other day if I knew where certain guns of dads were, no I don’t know where there at, matter of fact 1 of my guns that belonged to uncle Lester is there somewhere, I left it there years ago after shooting for hours up the holler.
I don’t know your situation, but I’m a good candidate for the terminology of “black sheep of the family”. The oldest sister would post on FB about all the family get togethers, picnics and such but I never got the first invite, sad thing is, I live only 1 1/2, miles from dads place, the closest of all us kids.
Don’t let others keep you away my friend, go enjoy every minute you can with your dad. I never thought of losing my dad this soon, I figured he would live to be up his 90’s at least, sadly I was wrong.
No clue what’s going to happen to his little 2 cylinder John Deere crawler or his tractor he loved so well, only time will tell. I do know if my stepmom has no use for it or sees any value in it she will toss it, at least that’s how I feel. Dads pewter plaque, his belt buckle from Cat, all his awards from the mechanic schools he attended are in an old building that’s falling down. I had ask him one time why they weren’t in the house…oh, she don’t want them in the house so I brought them out here. Out of an estimated 17,000 participants dad was one of the top 10 to win the award given by GM in 1981 covering I think was 7 different test subjects… gas engines, diesel engines, electrical, suspension, steering, a/c, and transmission / differentials. The top 10 won an all expense paid trip to Detroit with fine dining and motels. Somewhere I have the newspaper clipping with his picture from that trip.
Go see your dad brother, spend time with him no matter who else is around, those moments with him will be cherished for years to come…..dwells40, exhausted379, blairandgretchen and 12 others Thank this. -
Folks have said that as long as I live dad will never die, figure of speech of course. Even my sister Tammy has said in years past that I was living duplicate of our dad….dwells40, exhausted379, blairandgretchen and 12 others Thank this.
