I know that road from Kamloops to Alberta like the back of my hand. I could just about drive it fast asleep lol. I'm actually quite suprised at how big Valemount actually is. You only see like maybe 15 buildings when you drive through on the highway.

Dam nice of you to say that, but there are guys above my caliber out there still trucking, and a some of them are posters in this ongoing thread. Guys with more whiskers than me,and they're still succeeding, always will, they know who they are.
Some of us are lucky enough to have the gumption, drive, mechanical aptitude, whatever you want to call it,to want to survive in this extremely tough business, and tackle their own work. And I don't mean this as an insult to guys that don't want to work on their trucks. Every one has his own theories how to make money, that's what makes life interesting. But I do think you're way ahead of the game if you can do some of your work,or least understand enough about your truck so you don't get hosed by some unknown nefarious shop,in the event of a breakdown. One of my biggest fears all those years, was a catastrophic expensive breakdown in the middle of the Rockies somewhere with a budget busting tow bill. Luckily never happened, but it does, and a lot of it is unnecessary. If you own a truck nowadays, you should at least carry a grease gun,and a set of coveralls in your sidebox. I always liked to at least hit my U-joints a couple of times a week. Learn where all your fittings are,and how much to pump in. You can learn a lot about your rig from just doing that.Than graduate into the bigger, real money saving stuff.
Both my parents lived through the depression,3 families in one house. And a lot of that thriftiness, cheapness, fix your broken stuff yourself,or whatever you want to call it,must have rubbed off on me too. And I still love working on old cars, trucks, tractors, junk, etc.,still try to do something every day.

Jeez, enough rambling. Tug Toy,keep at it man, you're a special breed that ain't afraid to tackle their diesel engines, rears, brakes, welding, and other heavy work. Another era. I like to think that all the work I did on my rig for over 40 years, help put me in the happy place I am now. Can't put a dollar amount on it,but I think it might even shock me. Keep on trucking all, safely.

mashed taters and cheddar cheese mixed then folded into 2.5 or 3" circles of dough pinched closed and cooked in boiling water for about 5 minutes. they are then served with sour cream and fried onions. bacon can be added to the filling and they are great if cooked then fried the next morning and served with fried eggs and lots of BACON.

I'm not much a drinker. I wouldn't mind going sledding up there one of these winters though. Supposed to be really good. Normally I hit up Raft Mountain a couple hours south of there.
