There are vast areas of the intermountain west that have no cell service. We are on Verizon because they seem to have the best coverage, but some places T Mobile seems to do better.

Often as not on our jobs there will be no service whatsoever without driving a half hour or more. I LOVE those jobs - untethered! We have a satellite phone for the guys to call home each night and if anything comes up that needs immediate attention. It is a little hit or miss too.

 

I ran ATT and Visible (supposedly Verizon network) for about 6 months early this year.

The Visible just never had as good of service as ATT. I canceled my ATT business plan we'd had for years in May and went to ATT prepaid. I haven't noticed any decline in service, but I try to stay away from populated areas.

We're trucking now to a job up 12 by Lochsa- no cell for miles and miles and the crews working and staying up there have trouble getting their satellite phones to work.

This area I'm in is pretty spotty for coverage. My neighbor has a radio communications shop- they put up their own repeaters around the area and do a pretty brisk business selling radios and service.

A friend of mines son comes and helps out around the place for a little foldin' money. Clean up around the places getting ready for fall/winter. I say just put it in the truck and run it down in the draw and throw it out. He says "I can't drive a stick shift"
I say to my self, self that jus ain't right a young man not knowin certain things
Grab a rag, wipe my hands....
He can drive a stick this afternoon.
