IMO, the greatest danger we face today is the lack of Men. There’s not enough for firefighters and law enforcement and the military. They’ve been lowering the bar to keep the numbers up, but eventually you end up with fat and sloppy, just like in the trucking industry. They will probably try to Dirty Dozen it with hardened criminals doing major sentences. Would be better than fat and sloppy.exhausted379, MACK E-6, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 7 others Thank this.

I never wanted direct customers. But, over the course of doing good business, you just end up with em.
One called needing a load delivered to SLC for ridiculous money. I tried to get some of my buddies to cover it, but they're all afraid of "the snow".
So, yeah, "I'll handle it".
I was sittin in a deer blind when this went down. I always do my truck work as soon as I get home, so no worries. Everything is ready.
So, I set until dark, and make the long boat ride back to the ramo. Park the boat in the woodshed, hop in the truck, and fire it up to hook to the trailer.
Belts start squealing as soon as it starts. Shut it down and flip the hood, and just have to laugh at my locked up A/C compressor that was working perfectly when I got home.
No biggie, I've got short belts handy. 15 minute delay, and I'll fix it when I get home.
Wife has dinner waiting. Eat and get in bed early to start early. A buddy texts about 8 to see if I wanted to hunt with him in the morning. He mentioned an island that's about 1000 acres. I've hunted it a good bit, so I sent him a pin, and a bit of advice on how to hunt it.
He chided me a bit about saying this "direct customer" thing wasn't gonna happen. Well, of course we know how this story ends.
Me heading to Salt Lake, him headed back to the ramp
