For me I never minded trucking thru the snow..I have trucked and hung iron thru some of the nastiest blizzards out in the rocky mountains. but I tell ya, nothing will have me parking faster than even a little bit of ice..
Easiest way to lose your entire way of making a living out here is to push thru an ice storm

Dang, it might not be worth coming back out here to drive OTR if they're closing all my favorite stopping places. I loved running US 69 just for that reason, all the good places to eat and the relatively low traffic congestion. :(

Looks like from NM on you get to deal with high winds. Normal this time of year, but will wake you right up.

Careful going that way, it's not like we wouldn't want to see you in Texas again. :D

Are you still going to hike in? I would be riding up with the mail boat or the "freight" hauler. That would be a Google search.

Off to find my winter boots, ice yaks and cleats.

WTH, the mail laying here says Texas not somewhere in the midwest.

Yeah, It's pretty well gonna be a hell of a hike no matter how I go. I'm still looking at options for access though. Lot's of research still left to do.

I've put a call in to a contact @Oxbow sent. He's a river guide. Raft access would cut my pack in to 8ish miles depending. Jet boat guys say they can't get as far in as I'm planning to hunt.

Downside to the raft is the 5k foot climb getting up to where I want to hunt.

Plane ride is the easy button, but everybody could do that, and I'm a chickensheet.

I've got a 16' Hyside bucket boat, but don't think I have the skills for the South Fork, and probably not the Middle Fork. I think the main Salmon I could manage, at least under normal September conditions.

Of course, the best plans could go to heck with a spark.

There has got to be a motorcycle/4 wheeler rental/guide up there somewhere. No clue who, but somewhere.

Flying in a fixed wing and a helicopter same problem?
